We're proud to present another Alliance for Climate Protection campaign completed for The Martin Agency. "Free" uses compelling imagery and in-your-face typographic treatments to rally viewers to their cause. We were involved with the production and post for this project, which was especially rewarding. A bare-bones crew, led by director Sunny Zhao and art director David McKay, loaded up our RED camera package and, over the course of three days, made a road trip capturing footage throughout several states along the east coast. In order to get the edgy and even controversial shots we needed, we had to employ a "run and gun" strategy, necessitating the small production. For post production, Ashley Kreamer of Final Cut USA made Dreams Factory her home to complete the offline edit. In addition to our footage she incorporated shots filmed by director Greg Kohs of Radical Media LA. Our RED footage and the F-900 footage from Radical Media was color corrected in our Lustre color grading suite by Sunny, and the final conform and compositing was finished in Flame and Smoke by Chris Hagen.
Light and Darkness
We recently completed a film for In-Light Richmond. The challenge was to create art to sell art. The piece was concepted by director Sunny Zhao, and shot on 35mm film. The film was scanned at 2k resolution. We then brought the footage into Smoke DI and edited the piece at 2k. The timeline was transferred in real time through infiniband into our Lustre Color Grading System where the final look was created. Carlos Chafin created a wonderful sound design in 5.1 surround mix. Light and Darkness is a short film focusing on images caused by light and shadows. This is a highly condensed version, the complete version is coming soon.
Alliance for Climate Protection - "Millions"
We've just completed Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection "Millions" campaign for The Martin Agency. This spot was a flagship project utilizing our new post production workflow. Ashley Kreamer of Final Cut USA edited the piece in our Avid suite. Digital Artist Chris Hagen conformed the spot in Autodesk Flame and Smoke. The final look was created by Sunny Zhao in Autodesk Lustre, our new color grading suite, which is connected through a high speed network to Flame and Smoke. This network allowed faster than real-time interaction with the Genesis HD footage referenced directly in the Smoke timeline. Seeing the entire spot in context gave the art director and creative director maximum flexibility. With all of this done in-house, we were able to quickly and seemlessly complete the entire post within the scheduled 3 day timeframe.
