Founded by Sunny Zhao, a multi-award winning director, cinematographer, editor, and writer, Dreams Factory is a production company with over twenty years of experience recognized for producing the highest quality content ranging across all media platforms.

Whether it is TV commercials, web videos, movies and music videos, or digital content for other platforms, our team of experienced and dedicated professionals is passionate about driving our clients’ messages home to the hearts of their audiences through compelling visuals while ensuring budget and time are used to maximum efficiency.

Dreams Factory has a combination of director/cinematographers and editors that work under the umbrella of it's production team. They also work as director/cinematographer duos on various projects. Sunny, Ryan and Tom all offer a wealth of experience, and each one brings a unique visual and creative sensibility to your projects. In addition to their work behind the camera they each excel in various aspects of post production, as indicated in their reels and bios.

With the recent addition of our new shooting studio at 2811 West Marshall Street, complete with a three sided 40ft x 40ft seamless wall (currently chroma key green), and the adjacent shooting stage with a cusom set that can be configured as a kitchen, living room, and more, Dreams Factory provides an easy "one stop" solution for creative and broadcast needs; Ryan, Sunny, and Tom for directing, cinematography and editorial; Paul Bruski and In Your Ear for audio; and Elias Dancey and Flatland Creative for 2-D animation capabilities. With today's technology and the ease of working remotely we also have many options to outsource highly intense 3-D animations if the need should ever arise. 

RYAN BOSWORTH - DIRECTOR, EDITOR, VISUAL EFFECTS, 3-D ANIMATION, Compositing & GRAPHICS

Ryan began his creative career at Euro RSCG/DSW. He went on to start a motion design shop in LA. Ryan has a strong foundation in VFX and design. He’s directed creative and VFX for brands like L’Oreal, Nestle, Leapfrog and Gateway. His unique directing style, and blending of effects and visual elegance has been on display in various commercials for the program “Dancing With The Stars." He won two PromaxBDA awards for his work on promos for "Project Runway." Ryan has also worked for top agencies on brands like K-Swiss, Lexus, Dell, Samsung, Jeep, Spike TV and ABC.

SUNNY ZHAO - DIRECTOR, CINEMATOGRAPHER & EDITOR

Sunny is an Emmy Award-Winning director, cinematographer, editor and colorist. His work includes brands such as SEIKO watches, Super 8 Motels, Geico, Maxwell House Coffee and others.

TOM MAHER - director, DP & EDITOR

Tom is a talented director, shooter and editor who's work includes Towne Bank, The VMFA, Metro Richmond YMCA, Sweet Frog, and others.

Dreams Factory - Post Production Reel

SHOOTING STUDIO

Dreams Factory's shooting studio is located at 2811 West Marshall Street, Richmond VA 23230. It consists of two adjoining studios; a three sided 40ft x 40ft seamless wall (currently chroma key green), and the adjacent shooting stage with a cusom set currently configured as a kitchen; completely modular and reconfigurable to a living room, and more. There is also room enough to pull a car inside for shooting automobiles. The separate wardrobe/makeup room, and talent holding area is directly adjacent to the shooting stage. 

POST PRODUCTION FACILITIES

Dreams Factory's post production facility and it's offices are located at 1813 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23223. The 18,000 square foot building was designed and constructed specifically for post production and audio production. The editorial suites are equipped with the latest 4k capabilities. The building is shared with In Your Ear Audio for voice over recording, music recording and composing, and Flatland Creative for 2-D Animation.
